This collaborative dress provides an artistic platform for women to tell their stories through embroidery. Embroidery is a universal language that cuts through all social and cultural constructs. Each month this dress is passed back to us for it to be picked up by its next loving owner. Every wearer is required to bring their own.

Embroidery of a Blackbird 

Amanda has been stitching for 35 years, focusing on birds and nature. The Blackbird on The Red Dress is a regular visitor to her when she volunteers at the Community Garden. He gets stitched regularly, along with his wife. They shadow Amanda when digs through the rich soil, quick to swoop in and catch all the worms.
